I'm curious to find out what blog system you're utilizing? I'm having some minor security problems with my latest blog and I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any recommendations?

I bottle fed my first, breast fed my second, and did a combo with my third. I was a SAHM with the first two; now a working mom with my little boy. My son had to be supplemented with formula at birth due to blood sugar issues and my milk not coming in. After that settled, I breast fed exclusively until I went back to work. Even then I pumped, but at 8 months my son weaned himself as he developed a preference for the bottle. I was very sad when that happened, but he is now 10 months old and he is healthy & happy. I believe breast is best, but it isn't always an option and moms shouldn't be be made to feel guilty for it.

While I absolutely agree that we should not "scold" mothers who don't breastfeed, I cannot support the statement "[F]eeding your baby formula milk is neither bad for them nor a sub-standard choice". Research is showing that it is a sub-standard choice over breastmilk / breastfeeding, and that it may, in fact, be "bad" for them (in much the same way that processed food in general is "bad" for us).

That doesn't mean that your baby won't grow on it, or end up healthy. Some do and some don't. Just like some people can eat processed food / junk food for their whole lives and not apparently suffer for it - and others end up overweight and unhealthy. But we don't then decide that all processed food is good for us just because some folks can eat it - we know what it is and we say what it is and that's why we call it junk and not "healthy" food.

As someone who had to supplement my first child with formula because I had an undiagnosed thyroid condition and was not producing enough milk, I understand the pain in saying those words "sub-standard choice". I understand it intimately, because I had to choose formula or not have enough to feed my son. So, I did what any parent would: I fed him the best I could. I breastfed as much as possible, and made sure that he got enough overall with formula.

So, we should not scorn anyone who *has* to use formula. But that doesn't mean that we should lie about what formula is. It is the choice you make after you have exhausted all avenues for getting breastmilk into your child - and that's all it is.

Couldn't agree more - attachment issues & a disorganised suck is far more likely to be the culprit than a food unless there is a recognised sensitivity. Spicy always gets blamed but think of all the parts of the world herbs and spices make up a large part of the diet!
